matsyā
Matsyā is the avatar of the Hindu God Vishnu in the form of a fish. Here Matsyā is depicted in an anthropomorphic form, where the upper half is that of the four-armed man and the lower half is a fish. Matsyā is believed to symbolise the first stage of evolution, as aquatic life was the first beings on earth. The outline of this work configures, the four attributes of Lord Vishnu, namely the Chakra (wheel of time), a Shankha (conch, a war trumpet), a Gada (mace, the weapon) and Lotus (divine beauty and purity) making him the Supreme Being who preserves and protects the entire creation.
